Presidential Address

We are living in a fast-changing world, a changing society, progressing at a galloping speed but many are left behind the main development agenda, very few people are marching ahead or climbing the ladder of development.

India will never achieve its true development until every individual of the country is empowered to make choices and transform their own lives.  To accomplish this dream, we have to journey along with the rural sector, the redundant and the superfluous people of the society. The task of the social service organization is to shepherd the flock along with the marginalized and the vulnerable people holding their hand, purely out of love. I am happy MSS is doing this task with all its competence.

While journeying together we have to focus on three important aspects of the development, they are:

1. Communion: Journeying together is becoming everything for the people whom you serve. Communion is the act of sharing: sharing the pain and suffering of the people and doing everything to alleviate and mitigate the situation of the people. Communion speaks about partnership to enhance the quality of life.
2. Participation: it is a sense of belonging to someone or something. But in this fast-changing world people are compartmentalized and corona added extra flavour to it. Social service organization must focus to bring equilibrium to people’s lives and society. This is possible only through building social network. Every social worker becomes a catalyst of change in this changing world.
3. Mission: mission is to bring everyone under an umbrella of development, it is the assignment given to everyone. Rig Veda and Upanishad speaks about Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, (THE WHOLE WORLD IS A FAMILY), where there is no place for discrimination, it is the mission of every individual.

I am happy that MSS is thriving to achieve the goal, to create the whole world a family.

My sincere appreciation to Rev. Fr. John Chiman, Fr. Jomon Joseph and the entire MSS staff for their tireless effort to make know the Vision and Mission of MSS to the horde.
